Trip Extensions

Extending your Trip

Flight extensions are managed by the travel agents working with our program and are not the responsibility of Taglit Birthright Israel.

Extensions are not guaranteed and may come at a significant cost.

If your extension is approved, your flight is no longer part of the group flight and is your individual responsibility. If the airline cancels or changes any part of your extension, Birthright Israel, and the travel agent are not responsible for new travel arrangements or fees associated with your return. In accepting the extension, you understand that your return ticket is your sole responsibility.

Flight extensions can only be submitted through the Birthright Israel App. This option becomes available once you are assigned to a group.

Terms and Conditions:.

You may submit a request up to 7 days before your scheduled departure to Israel
The option reopens once you arrive in Israel up to 72 hours before return date.
We highly recommend submitting your extension request as early as possible, since it may take several days to receive confirmation of a new return flight.

Do not make any changes to your travel plans until you receive written confirmation from the travel agent with your new return details.

If you do not receive confirmation of your extension, you are required to travel on your original return flight.

Flight Extensions from Connecting Cities

If your flight is booked on a non-Israeli airline (i.e. not El Al or Arkia) and includes a stopover or connection in another city, you may be eligible to request an extension from the connecting city only. Please note:

The possibility of extending from the connecting city depends on airline policies and availability.
Any arrangements and costs related to travel to the connecting city — including transportation, accommodations, or visa requirements — are your sole responsibility.

We recommend confirming details with the travel agent before making any plans.

If you do not show up for your return flight, the airline will cancel your ticket and mark it as VOID. You will not be able to rebook another flight with your Birthright Israel reservation, and you will then be responsible for paying for and arranging your own flight home.

Cancelling Return Ticket

If you choose to make your own return flight arrangements and not use the Birthright Israel return ticket (you are not flying home with the group or you are not extending your return ticket to a later date) then please follow the instructions below:

Before your trip starts:

You may cancel your return ticket by contacting your Trip Organizer. You are then responsible for purchasing your own return ticket.

Once you are in Israel:

You may cancel your return flight up to four hours before your planned departure from Israel by selecting “Cancel My Return Flight” on the Birthright Israel App. You are then responsible for purchasing your own return ticket..

Please note:

Canceling your ticket within 4 hours of your original planned departure is not guaranteed.
If you do not cancel your ticket and then proceed to not show up for your flight, your ticket will be canceled and marked as VOID by the airline. You will not be able to rebook another flight with your Birthright Israel reservation and you will then be responsible for paying and arranging for your own flight home.
Changes to your ticket are not permitted at the airport.
